Virginia Beach Wedding Photography of Jen and Charlie

Jen and Charlie got married at St Nick’s Catholic Church in Virginia Beach (which was deja vu for me, since I’d just shot another wedding there the previous week) and had their reception at One Fish Two Fish also in Virginia Beach.
What an incredible wedding celebration this was. It was my highest photo count all season and I really edited tight. (almost 1500 delivered photos)
Virginia Beach Wedding Photography doesn’t get much more fun than this, never a dull moment and just non stop from start to finish.
Jen and Charlies families and friends were all a joy to be around. Everybody loved the camera it seemed.
With so many photos, I couldn’t just do a normal slide show, so I almost doubled the size and length of the show. It will follow the photos posted below.

Contemporary Arts Center Virginia Beach Wedding Photography of Jennifer and Derek

Derek & Jennifer got married at the Contemporary Arts Center of Virginia Beach on Friday, October 17th, 2008! We didn’t get to do portraits outside in the Sculpture Garden unfortunately because of the driving rain, but we made do in the Price Auditorium and went backstage for some bride and groom only photos on the great big grand piano. The Rodriguez Pavilion was closed up tight so we couldn’t do any photography in there.
It was a great wedding! Lots of fun had by all!
The guys wrote one of the most unique expressions on the getaway car that I’ve ever seen! I don’t think I should repeat it though!

Trash The Dress Bridal Photography of Shannon

Shannon has got some game! It’s a good thing too. It was pretty cold sitting there on a bench on the Virginia Beach boardwalk before sunrise, waiting for the sun to wake up the horizon. I never know for sure what kind of sunrise I’m going to be working with when I do Trash The Dress Bridal Photography. I’m not privy to that information. The only thing I care about is water temperature and wind speed. A little breeze is good. A LOT of wind is bad. Very cold water is bad, very warm water is bad (jellyfish!).
The pallet that a sunrise paints on is random. It cannot be predicted (by me anyway).
October 12th, 2008 was a very very very rare sunrise. The clouds were EXTREMELY dramatic, the conditions were perfect for an EXPLOSION of color on the horizon. The breeze was light, the water temp was not too bad.
Now, all I needed was a young lady in a wedding dress who wanted to get up REAL early to dive into the ocean in that wedding dress for the sake of art.
Well, Shannon didn’t have a problem with that. The problem was finding a dress to do it in. So, I got her in touch with a couple of brides that had done this with me in the past for some tips on finding the right dress for a trash the dress bridal session. Jenn and Addie hooked her up with the information she needed, and the gears were turning, and we were there.

I just love doing trash the dress bridal photography. It allows me to stretch my imagination and work under extremely difficult conditions. Wading out into the ocean with a very expensive camera trying to direct the bride and the person moving my light stand around on the beach is not for the weak of heart. It’s doing things like this that really lets me know why doing this for a living is such a gift, and why it’s such a passion for me. Thanks Shannon!
